@ai6yr I'm in bike shops regularly and I don't think any of the bikes have chain guards.
I just wear shorts.
***chain guards are required nowadays? I assume because these are sold to kids....
@ai6yr The cpsc has a list of requirements for bikes that range from extremely sensible (no sharp edges, bolts that do not sheer off when using for a person of a certain weight over a certain distance) to pretty silly and probably ignored by most expel (sellers get around them by not having bikes fully built, I think even leaving the edges of founts as making it "custom" and therefore not needing to meet certain requirement)

Yeah, required for kids since they put their fingers in unwise locations without thinking about it.
And that bicycle is advertised for younger kids with no chain guard shown. Slightly weird that a guard is shown in the recall photos, but maybe it's not a sufficient one?
ETA: Maybe they're showing it WITH the chain guard which the manufacturor is now required to send everyone.
@ai6yr not sure I have had a bike with a chain guard as an adult. Except one closed shifter commuter bike one of my family member had. It wasn't a good solution tho. Peddling hard would cause the rubber drive belt to slip.

i recall getting pant leg caught in the chain at high speed. not fun when all you have is coaster brake and the chain comes off. we never had chain guards unless a new bike. tie bell-bottoms around ankle to prevent.
