RE: Blue Tsunami
Watching all the monumental gains made in numerous other states has left me feeling discouraged as a Floridian.
In the Sunshine State, Republicans held onto the governor’s mansion, a U.S. Senate seat and three statewide cabinet positions (all races they were favored to win handily but instead won by extremely thin margins).
On the plus side, the GOP failed to flip the Democratic-held congressional seats the party gerrymandered through a controversial mid-decade redistricting scheme.
Central Florida Democrats also flipped six seats in the state House, helping end the GOP supermajority, which will give Democrats more leverage in upcoming sessions.
