Well that didn't take long ...
I was on a Punchbowl News debrief earlier today, and the reporters there (very much Washington insiders) didn't think there would be any significant challenge to Schumer, because they saw him as having done such a great job getting the Dems to win the Senate.
Hmm.
That's not how it looks to the grassroots. I mean yeah it's good that he supported El-Sayed in Michigan and Jackson in Maine AFTER HIS HAND-PICKED CANDIDATES LOST, and at least the Dems found some pocket change to support Colom in MIssissippi the last few weeks of the campaign, but let's keep it in perspective (and also note that the decision not to send more funding to Florida and Louisiana were winnable probably cost a couple of seats).
The credit for the blue tsunami goes to the grassroots organizers and the activists who did the hard work on the ground -- NOT to Dem leadership in general, and NOT to Schumer. And as Senate Majority leader he's a corporate centrist who's far too willing to compromise.
So if you've got one or more Democratic Senators, now is a great time to let them know that it's time for new leadership in the Senate.

https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm is a directory. Choose your state, and it will show you your Senators and their phone numbers. If you prefer to use their web form to send a message, click on their photo to get to their official page, and look for the link to their Contact page.
It's fine to keep it short and simple. "It's time for new leadership in the Senate. Please do not vote for Sen. Schumer as Majority Leader." That said, it's also great to go into more detail!

Somebody in an organizing Slack where I shared this asked me why Indivisible isn’t going after Jeffries too. There's no way to know for sure, but Marcy Wheeler has some relevent thoughts on Jeffries at https://emptywheel.net/2026/11/05/on-congress/
One key point:
Yeah really. And without any Black-led organizations clamoring to replace Jeffires, it would be a huge mistake for the white-led, mostly-white Indivsibile to take the lead here.
The article as a whole is worth reading, whether or not you agree with her about Jeffries’ effectiveness. She’s also got an interesting breakdown from Mariana Sotomayor of Puck News of where the House caucus is (the original had links to Xitter so I cut them out)
As I so often say, f---ing Dems. We really shouldn't expect them to save our bacon. If you're into electoral politics, check out Working Families Party and DSA instead.
