@davidgerard I am personally enjoying the whiny “nobody wants my thing, so I’ll build it in space! With blackjack and hookers!” cope from the AI bros.
Like, if we didn’t want your shit on earth, why would we want it in space for a lot more money? Real Nobel Prize winning economic thinking there.
@davidgerard "Thanks, I hate it."
The more I read that article, the worse it gets. Claiming their team is the World Champion—which is true if you are so parochial the "world" is "USA and grudgingly Canada"—is just the warm-up. When I got to "I do think that humans will have economic value" like the economic value was the thing they actually cared about, I closed the tab, knowing there was nothing said here that was worth saying or reading.

Never was on Stratechery. Sadly, it's dressed up well enough that it took me a lot of reading in the early days to realise that I was wasting the effort of my eyeball muscles.
@lproven @pndc @davidgerard See also Scott Alexander. (No, I have no idea what he's saying about AI, but he's bound to be saying something.)
💯 as the kids probably do not in fact say.
@davidgerard "people don't want data centers which just shows that Musk's data centers in space push is smart" is strange cope.
@tante @davidgerard did he flunk his physics classes?
Asking for heat dissipation...
@littledetritus @davidgerard I think he's an economist or such? So why would he even learn physics?
@tante @littledetritus political science, then MBA and a masters in Engineering Management
so uh
@tante @davidgerard "data centers in space" is such a dumb idea that talking about it should pop the global ai bubble all by itself.
@davidgerard The characters in the archive link are pretty frickin cool, actually. I've had trouble brute forcing decent .onion vanity addresses with eschalot lately
