My organization, #LandOfAction, has election watchers out across #NewMexico today. Starting at 7 am, I’ve been getting calls about what’s happening on the ground.
- in rural northern Santa Fe County, a voting location turned away its first voter because the machinery was broken and the poll workers were waiting for IT. Don’t know if the voter was offered an emergency paper ballot, per state law. Subsequent voters were admitted, not sure if machinery was fixed. 1/

- in Sandoval County, sheriff was at an election location, not summoned by presiding judge which is the lawful way for law enforcement to be there. Checking with county clerk’s office for more information. 3/ #LandOfAction #NewMexico
(An aside: it helps to know there are people like those in your org who are on top of watching the watchers, even though I don't live in NM.)
There are scores of voting locations throughout NM today. Many will have no issues. But the only we can know that is to be cognizant of where there are (potential) problems. Election watchers help County Clerks, NM Sec of State, and the general public know what’s what. 4/4 #LandOfAction #NewMexico
@heidilifeldman thank you for keeping an eye on this stuff
- in an election location in Rio Arriba County, a poll worker was loudly opining on ballot question concerning pay for NM state legislators and on where ICE would be at the polls #LandOfAction #NewMexico 2/
