Lots of people saying Haley Stevens was paid to retract her endorsement at the last moment, but this is overcomplicating it. She's an ambitious person who probably feels like she had her dream job just taken away from her by "these people" and "this guy" just out of nowhere.
This whole thing is messy and probably won't have much impact on the election itself. It's too late.
She's just mad.
It's all very dramatic.
@Extra_Special_Carbon @futurebird not only was it a retraction but she endorsed the republican, a clear Trump yes-man.lots of people are saying she got paid but I’m thinking it’s sour grapes, she’s just that kind of person. I still won’t be surprised if she gets a job at Fox News though.
Well now she's waffling about that too and saying she's just not going to vote that way herself ...
IDK we probably won't ever see her again in the news, hope the last hurrah was fun for her.
Personal satisfaction and attention. She seems very pleased with herself but also totally unable to explain how she "wants democrats to win"
She's mad and expressing herself.
I think at this point though she will be hoping that Abdul El-Sayed wins, since if he looses by a thin margin... it's all getting pinned on her forever. Even if it is not technically realistic to think that this matters.
Elections are big stories and the majority of people in Michigan just barely know who these people are, many may have forgotten who Haley Stevens even was, or that she at first endorsed her rival as is traditional after a primary.
The things we talk about endlessly in political gossip aren't really that important.
The economy matters, the many reasons why people are angry enough to show up and vote matters.
I suspect some number of voters will be surprised to find Trump isn't on any of the tickets. People really really really do not pay much attention to politics. It's boring, depressing, and disgusting.
@futurebird we had two older ladies come in to early voting on Saturday. One took a lot longer than the other, then they left together. A few minutes later, one came back and hesitantly said she had a question about the ballot. Had hers been missing a page? She hadn’t seen where she was supposed to vote for president. We gently explained that wasn’t for another two years. She seemed confused, but accepting, and they went on their way.
@futurebird frankly allowing the uninformed to vote is one of the biggest flaws in any Democracy ☹️
Also election lies should be punished by not less than 5 years hard labor.
@futurebird She retracted? Wow! She read that room wrong, twice! What does she gain by retracting?
