I hadn't spotted the Shelly Camera before.

Local recording (to a microSD card), HomeAssistant integration (Wi-Fi, but I'm not sure if it can handle an encrypted video stream), and not an absurd price.

@neil interesting but I don't personally understand why people want indoor cameras

@M0YNG @neil I have two indoor cameras. Local recording only. Mics off. Mainly to keep an eye on the dogs.

@ret @neil that's a good reason! The cat doesn't need much eye keeping...
I always assume the main use for cameras is crime prevention / postmortem and maybe checking who's at the door - which are all external

@M0YNG @ret @neil My use cases are external, but in a rental so I can’t do anything external. Indoor cameras against the window with mic off and ability to disable completely. The back one covers us using the garden so gets switched off when needed.

I do agree that generally I find internal cameras odd!

@neil just beware that Shelly have been bought by Schneider Electric, the same people who have ruined APC with cloud subscription nonsense for devices that have no business requiring that.

@neil I bought a Sonoff one and then loaded an alternative software called Thingino
