TIL that "AI slop" is in fact etymologically antisemitic in nature.
I would ask people stop using it.
EDIT: People are saying that it's not antisemitic anymore. I can understand that argument. I'm not here forcing anyone to do anything.

There's a very long history of conflating Jews with pigs. For example, "capitalist pig" is etymologically anti-Jewish as well. It's the idea that Jews inhabit pig-ness and especially that they subject non-Jews to pig things. This is quite common in left-wing antisemitic memes of the 19th and 20th Century especially.
Around 2016/2017 the term "goyslop" came about on the Internet. This is the idea that Jews are poisoning gentile food. It's part of a larger conspiracy theory with the belief that Jews are attempting to destroy or displace white people through various means. I saw it commonly applied to trans folks, as in "Jews are turning your sons into girls so the Black race will take over and be enslaved by the Jew"- yes this is something I really read on Twitter back in 2016/2017.
Goyslop evolved to "AI slop" in the same circles, and then was picked up generally.
It's a derivation of goyslop, which is in itself based on the idea that Jews feed gentiles "slop" as a mechanism of control.
There's longstanding connection between Jews and pigs.
@serge I remain somewhat unconvinced. "Slop" is a fairly generic word. "AI slop" certainly could derive from goyslop, but I would want to see evidence that that was its origin and/or evidence that the term is used as an antisemitic dog whistle.
I never made that second claim.
@bosheshabayis @serge But also, I'm going to go ahead and call it now: The fediverse will absolutely use this phrase more once they realize its antisemitic qualities. If you want them to stop using it, you have to tell them it's spiritually Israeli. I mean I'm not exactly sure what qualifies something as spiritually Israeli, but from what I understand it's the insult all the cool kids who are just upset they can't afford their favorite burrito are using.
@serge because of "goyslop"?
Or is there something else / older that I'm not aware of?
@serge would you like to explain pls
