Learjet headed to Bahamas crashes in Palm Beach County with 9 people on board
GREENACRES, Fla. — A Learjet carrying nine people crashed in a residential area near Cresthaven on Sunday afternoon, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The FAA said the Learjet 60 crashed around 12:50 p.m. The aircraft had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was headed to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas.

@Viss @mkristensson Yeah... My comment about that not being a great airport to go in and out of because of those AA.
"...Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said Military Trail is closed to all traffic between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North. The agency described the response as an "extended incident" and urged people to avoid the area...."
@ai6yr Not that far from Mar-a-Lago. Probably feds all over the place.
It's raining hard down here now, too.

Looks like a very abrupt drop from a very high altitude. I don't think there was any control happening after that started. Two engines, so can't have been just one failing.
And they turned away from their destination quite a while before the problems started. Maybe loss of pressurization and everyone conking out?

Looks like they have closed off a road in an area of interest. Wonder if that's normal or as a result of this....

Minutes before the crash, the pilot of the plane reported ice accumulating on the aircraft, an outside air temperature of -47 degrees Celsius, and moderate turbulence, bouncing the plane by up to 700 feet, according to a recording of air traffic control radio calls captured by LiveATC.net.... moments later, after reporting precipitation started to fall and requesting to climb, they declared an emergency.... “We’re descending 8,000 – mayday, mayday - we’re descending 10,000 feet per minute,” the pilot said. “We are in an overspeed condition descending 20,000 feet per minute … We’re going to crash into the ground.”
