Injectable estradiol was always legal, just not very available. And it's just as off-label as gynokadin.
Here's a list of producing pharmacies:

@tea yeah, I'd previously been told it wasn't legal, but I think what they were trying to say was the prescription was legal but unfulfillable within German.
I'm glad there's more accurate info out there if something was lost in translation here, which it sounds like there was
@thisismissem@hachyderm.io please edit posts after you have been corrected to stop spreading misinformation. In a community where word of mouth is the predominant way information gets shared, it's important not to spread half truths. You could get prescribed Estradiol injections before last year (I got those), there was no change in law, it's just that there are only a handful of pharmacies in Germany producing the injections. In Berlin it's https://schoenhauser.family/transmedizin
@hermlon I'd received this information from my endocrinologist, I think what he may have meant (there was a language barrier) was that he couldn't prescribe a prescription in Germany because there was no pharmacy to fill it. He framed it as a legal change compared to doing imports; I think what he meant was it was legal to prescribe but not fulfillable in German, so therefore there wasn't really an available route to get it.
@thisismissem wait what? Do you have more info on the second?
@piegames basically that could always apparently prescribe it, but there were no pharmacies willing to fill those prescriptions, so the only way you could get it was via a foreign import, which meant endocrinologists were not inclined to prescribe it. A bit of a chicken and egg problem with supply & demand
@thisismissem@hachyderm.io friends have had it prescribed for years, no legal change afaik. however finding a pharmacy able to dispense it hard.
@erincandescent you could maybe find it via import or pharmacies compounding but it was rarer for endocrinologists to prescribe, especially as a primary import country was outside of DACH and compounding pharmacies were hard to find.
I'm going based on what my new endocrinologist told me yesterday, but I was starting an MCAS crash so I might be misremembering something. All I know is I can now finally get injectables when previously I definitely couldn't.
@thisismissem@hachyderm.io tbh you're the first person i have heard of in germany getting an endo to prescribe estrogen; everyone i know gets it prescribed by their Hausarzt. But if its actually available as an off the shelf formulation for injection, that's good news!

@thisismissem what’s your source? because i’ve been prescribed injectable estradiol since 2024 with public health insurance without any issues (except the initial struggle of finding a pharmacy that can make it) and “Estradiol und seine Ester“ has been in the law governing prescribable medication for many years
also there is no need for referrals to an endocrinologist at all (and especially not every quarter), though in some cases it might speed up the time until first appointment; the change you are referring to was discussed to cut healthcare spending but after a lot of pushback hasn’t been talked about since a while ago
