@spytfyre I actually have eaten mead and venison at a medieval banquet in Oxford eons ago. We were each also given a knife with which to stab the food! π
I do have cuddly things (sadly not our much missed beagles, but cuddly wraps) and a great husband who puts up with ALL (well nearly all) my shenanigans. π π π Yes, it's comfort food season. Indeed.
@spytfyre You are cracking me up. π Halloween will always be special ever since our UK niece and nephew visited us and had their first American Halloween. (Our first time trick or treating also! we went with friends.) Anyway there was my nearly 3 year old nephew AMAZED that in America you go up to strangers homes and they give you LOTS AND LOTS of candy. Especially if you are a curly headed little boy with an accent. <g> He made out like a bandit.

and yes sweets are given
During covid we put on a window projector display and speakers outside our apartment
An American couple stopped and cried because they felt homesick
We had a tub of socially distanced sweets on the fence railings for them to grab a few
Later on when tidying away they'd left a 3D Halloween greetings card underneath a pumpkin saying thank you again andhow much it had impacted them
Was a special Halloween that one

@spytfyre The following year my brother and family went to Italy and my nephew was beside himself with outrage. They'll be RUBBISH at Halloween in Italy.

@spytfyre My brother did send me several photos of my nephew crying with laughter at "all the willies" there were in Rome on the statues though. π But I don't think that made up for missing American Halloween.
