I dumped Proton when Yen blathered about the GOP being better for privacy... Glad I did even though it was disappointing to have to move email addresses again.

For those shopping for email providers, I use Posteo. At the time I was looking at them, AI hadn't quite been shoved everywhere yet so I didn't ask them their policy. https://posteo.de/en

I wrote support to ask what I could tell those who are considering Posteo now about what their AI policy is. This was the reply:

@ml this looked pretty good, so I signed up and paid, with the intent of migrating away from the Proton family plan.

But, I can't actually see an option to link your personal domain. I also see nothing in the documentation that suggests this is possible.

I hope I'm wrong, but if not, this is sadly not an alternative to Proton.

I don't think I'm going to ask for my money aback because it's my fault for not looking up this before I paid, and perhaps they will add this feature in the future, at which point I'll be happy to migrated to them.

@loke Just because you cannot use your own domain for email doesn't make it "not an alternative to Proton" for many people. It makes it not an alternative for *you* if that is what you require.

I would recommend emailing them about it, not because they're suddenly going to offer it when their website never stated that was among their offerings, but because perhaps they don't know that that is a deciding factor for some and they won't know unless you let them know. Perhaps if enough people email and it's not a big deal to them to start offering it, they'll change & add it.

As far as email with own domain, I have heard Fastmail and Migadu offer that, but since it's not something I require, it's nothing I've checked out thoroughly. I offer these names just to give you a place to start researching.

@ml right. That's why I said it was my fault for not investigating it before signing up.

Also, I'm not going to blame them for not being clear on the signup page. I didn't read all of the information anyway.

I will indeed contact them and ask if they have any plans to implement this. I'll share any response I might get. Thanks for the suggestion.
