Installing the pre-reqs for mastodon on a new system to try to finally bring back @chris@mstdn.chrisalemany.ca
who knew that this kind of time would be so hard to come by!
Using another old iMac, but this time with its original spinning HDD! And it’s *only* going to do mastodon, and host my old static twitter archive.
wish me luck in this journey!

@EdwinG @chris@socialbc.ca @chris@mstdn.chrisalemany.ca He only asked to wish him luck. He didn't ask for "good luck" nor "best of luck" 😉
@jfmezei @chris@mstdn.chrisalemany.ca copying over the media files to the other server is going to take a bit… lol
@chris@socialbc.ca @chris@mstdn.chrisalemany.ca Have you considered USB stick or SD card to move your data? With 2 ports and 4 sticks, you could be loading data onto 2 sticks from old machines while 2 more sticks are t unloading data on the new machine at same time. (unless your medua is in database and you must use replication facility).
@jfmezei @chris@mstdn.chrisalemany.ca if it’s not able to complete remotely before I leave work we will definitely be using SneakerNet :)
