Good policy. It was not what I had in mind with my post on hallway monitors, but I appreciate it.
The hallway monitor is a pet peeve of mine, the emergence of power structures around rule enforcers over people is not new, it happens all the time - and it bothers me tremendously: NIMBYs, Wikipedia, stack overflow, hijacked student movements, HOAs.
The Reddit ban is just the latest episode.
@mattiem I think we have a version of the Industrial Revolution -as in a large swath of jobs will be wiped out and replaced- but we are speed running it, with not enough time for the people to adapt. We are headed for a societal crash and I don't think it can be stopped.

But I think it is *possible* that there is no such thing as adapting to true artificial intelligence. It could actually be a credible attack on the “lump of work” concept from economics (putting aside all other social/personal implications)
@mattiem that last post of mine was mostly despair. I think we are royally screwed as a society.

@Migueldeicaza I’m largely on board here. But! I think we are seeing a societal divide around AI specifically that is going to prove to be quite durable. And I’m not sure if it can be explained (or addressed!) in the same ways.
