So my primary browser is Firefox ESR with a bunch of shit turned off, with the intent of moving to LibreWolf by next week. Had to open Firefox Nightly to file a bug and OH MY GOD it is SO AGGRESSIVE about trying to make me do ANYTHING AT ALL OTHER THAN USE MY WEB BROWERS. Hey stop what you're doing and solve this crossword puzzle. On the second tab I opened it locked me out with a modal dialog encouraging me to… migrate to Windows 11?

@mcc I used Firefox from 0.8 till 4.0, then I have been using Chrome, then Brave now. I need Google's PWA and handy web features still, but do not need ad universe as fuck

Hey here's a short challenge. Expand the screenshot above and try, while exercising as *few* neurons as possible, to determine what you must do to dismiss this modal.
Hints, if you get stuck:
- ESC works, but let's say that's cheating!
- If your answer involved "click on the tabs or address bar" you were WRONG because that did NOT appear to work
@mcc it's like a cousin of a dark pattern. An eye-searingly stupid pattern.
Most people responding to this correctly guessed that the circular pill object at the end with the dropdown menu and the word "dismiss" is, in fact, a button that dismisses the modal. I do not understand what it is like to be you but I am happy for you, as you will survive in this horrible new world of rounded corners, whereas I will be die in the frozen Canadian wastes, my body be eaten by wolves, after I cannot figure out how to operate the glowing rainbow circle that replaced the thermostat

@mcc please tell me that clicking on "dismiss" works
...I can't decide if I want to know what the little menu arrow *next* to "dismiss" does
@mcc assuming I missed the dismiss button, my first guess would be to click the greyed out area around the pop up. Still horrible design though. I guess the X to close had the same fate as the scroll bars

I notice that dark patterns are so normalized that... you know how you used to be able to skin apps? The current default Firefox (and the new Masto) skin would be called "Dark Patterns (light mode)".
