@MoritzGlantz eBay tried that and devs keep using it as an example for why they should adopt React instead
@MoritzGlantz ah didn't see the article above. You mean more complex patterns.
@cvap and I also mentioned Kolibri😊
@MoritzGlantz Is that what you have in mind? https://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/apg/patterns/
(Haven't read your article yet)
@mandrasch Do you consider the APG an accessibility patterns library with best practices?
@MoritzGlantz Ah ok nevermind, had time to read your article. 👍
I myself was looking for robust pattern for accessible mega menus a while back (https://github.com/mandrasch/accessible-menu-bootstrap-examples) while working in a web agency, gave up.
Nowadays lot's of libs like Nuxt UI or shadcdn are based on https://www.radix-ui.com/ - I would assume they are the defacto standard currently 🤷♂️
And AI tools totally change the playing field currently, therefore I'm not sure if another pattern library would help (rather than contributing to radix & such) 🤷♂️
On the other hand you can do a lot more as one person or small team now with AI...
Much success with your initiative!
@mandrasch it is not meant as a pattern library to use directly in your web project. More as a list of accessible reference implementations for specific patterns. Like the apg but actual best practices and not just aria.
@MoritzGlantz Some places already do this. Having a universal library of accessible design systems and models would be nice, but some places do this in house with design systems and patterns already put together in alibrary to be used when a new site or app is made. It is helpful and allows things to be accessible from the onset... if they get used as theyshould.
