ah yes, just what I need right before I travel, the fan dying on my media server.
just gonna swap its nvme drive into my other Linux server which isn't actively being used for anything right now and which has a better GPU for transcoding anyway, maybe this is what I should have done to begin with
I ended up doing some renaming because it seemed easier than remapping all my internal network services to a different IP address but it wasn't (and wouldn't have mattered anyway) but whatever
Now to figure out why the heck its xrdp server is still insisting on its old network name, even though I purged the config and reinstalled
anyway at this point I've done so many destructive changes to the server config that yeah I'm just gonna keep it this way, this is a better use for this hardware anyway
@fluffy I recently purged nvidia and I'm enjoying better uptimes! I swear they've wasted so much of my life. even with the nouveau drivers. someone should do some science on this before they go into liquidation.
@stevoo This computer just happens to already have a 2080Ti in it and I haven't had any stability issues with it so far. the machine that went down is an Intel NUC which keeps on burning through blower fan motors and I'm just doing what I can to get my stuff up and running again right before a big trip where it'll be useful to have this stuff up and running.

I do appreciate how on Linux you can usually just swap out the main storage device into another computer and it'll continue to Just Work
I did have to install the nVidia drivers of course but that's not a huge deal
if I do keep things this way I'll probably want to do some renaming, but like, yeah this AMD+nVidia box is way more powerful than the Intel NUC it's standing in for anyway, maybe I just keep it like this
