@deadsuperhero
What is the AI policy of the developers?
@OliviaVespera @deadsuperhero There's AI features advertised on the website so probably not good.
@vorboyvo@mstdn.isometry.group @OliviaVespera@spacey.space There's some integrations for AI tools and models, bot accounts, MCP stuff, and search. Fwiw, these all seem to be locally hosted, and it seems like there's plans to put strict controls on all of them.
I'm not completely thrilled at it, but it seems to be miles better than anything Maven was trying a few years back. They seem to also plan on following the "opt-in" model for searchability and discovery.
From what I can see here, none of these are locally hosted. https://welley.com/integrations/ It's plugged into cloud models.
Not that the cloud is the main issue, but the use of LLMs/generative AI is for me.
This kind of platform is sorely needed, but there must be a way to build such a platform and evoke confidence that it was not slop coded, and to provide a clearly defined AI policy as a bare minimum these days.
We're in year 3 of this. We can do better. 1/2
Recently @scalzi had posted an example of a really good AI policy that was written by, for and with the community it supports so we know it is possible. I think we in the Fediverse deserve better and should work to build better.
We can build it without being complicit in the harms of AI. 2/2

Olivia, thanks for sharing this policy. I really like it, and it makes perfect sense to me. I think we'll adopt something similar.
We do use agents in development, but strictly as tools. They help with bug triage, investigations, and code reviews. Most of the platform has been hand-coded, though we also use agents for coding, always with rigorous human oversight.
Design, specs, product decisions, and everything else are still done the old-fashioned way, by humans.
@deadsuperhero looks very interesting 👀
