Can you put linux on tablets? I've got a tablet I don't use.
I suppose I should just keep it with Android on it but hmmm.

@nflux Thanks. I'll have a look at that.
@lydiaconwell it might be one of these:
@postmarketOS @postmarketOS
@nflux @lydiaconwell @postmarketOS @postmarketOS@fosstodon.org Hey, that's our old old account. Since then we've first moved to https://social.treehouse.systems and since the project rebrand we're @nura now!
@lydiaconwell As mentioned, it depends on the tablet and the Linux version. I'm using my tablet as we speak. Currently having some touchscreen issues, but it works great with a mouse.
@DukeDuke That looks quite nice. I'm tempted.
@lydiaconwell Here are a few suggestions if you want to try it: https://linuxvox.com/blog/linux-on-a-tablet/ I'd say go for it. If you don't use that tablet, you have nothing to lose. It might even be a fun experience.
@lydiaconwell it depends! what tablet is it?
@lydiaconwell@todon.nl Linux on phones is still a WIP. I imagine it’s alpha software at best on tablets.
@jaypeach53 OK. I'll stick to horrible Google Android then.
It's just that when I look at the screen it's all yucky.
@lydiaconwell whilst i think phones are their priority, "Nura" (formerly postmarketOS) seems to list some tablets on their supported devices page, and (to me) is one of the most promising candidates for older hardware: https://wiki.nura.eco/wiki/The-big-list-of-who-has-what-device?QMLVasL0lrbqT=4hGkUnsy2ezp
theyre on fedi too but I haven't got their username to hand. will boost/@ next time i see a post from them.
