@evan love that place!
@evan A Spa around here (https://www.monte-mare.de/tegernsee/) did give free entry on birthdays (not anymore).
@evan Ha, I went to a hot spring for birthday last weekend. Reading, soaking, a modicum of quiet conversation...
I recognise that spa visits can seem like a luxury; I'm not sure that's entirely true. Taking the waters at a spa like Bota Bota or StrΓΈm in Montreal costs about CAD$75, although you can get pretty good discounts, especially on weekdays. Even at full price, that's about 2% of the monthly income of a median worker in Montreal ($50K/year). That's a lot for monthly visits, but going 2-4 times per year is within reach (ymmv).
Whether you want to go is up to you, but I think going to the spa is awesome.
Thanks to everyone who replied!
@evan Iβm not counting that my massage therapist works out of a spa although I do go see him every couple months. I am going to the Nordic spa in Quebec near Ottawa next month though.
@evan I've been inside a spa, but I haven't had an actual spa treatment before. Either way, it was over a year ago.
@evan spa? Probably never.
@wendinoakland That's interesting! In the Bay Area, I like Harbin Hot Springs, and Archimedes Banya is cool, also.
@evan well, now in London I swim in the Hampstead Heath ponds, when itβs warm, and with ducks, heron, wild flowers and foliage, thatβs quite the spa experience.
@evan Sauna/spa at least once a month. More in winter.
@evan it's almost a "never"
Hey, everyone. Thanks for the replies and responses. I went to a spa last Wednesday for my birthday -- the lovely #BotaBota in #Montreal's #VieuxPort. It was a real treat. I probably go to spas two or three times a year most years. I really enjoy doing the full water cycle -- hot, cold, rest, hot, cold, rest -- and taking some time to read, hang out with friends, meditate, nap, and relax.
