@dansup So, Theatre in North Canada? And Theater in South Canada (formerly known as US)? 😜
@dansup I'd put Theatre in the Canadian and British listings and Theater in the US one. Each English localization takes its own screenshots, so nobody has to lose. Is your primary language US English, so the Canadian image is what everyone outside Canada sees?
@dansup Depends how fancy
@dansup This poll made me look it up but somehow as an elder millennial US American, I was taught to use "theater" for any physical movie screening or live performance space and "theatre" to speak about the art form though that's wrong for us, I guess.
Always post communication in your preferred language/language variation! Hopefully you will never have to deal with jerks bent out of shape over minor standardization rules differences in a serious way.
@goosedbear Oh interesting, I remember being taught this in school too (elder millennial from Canada)
@dansup @goosedbear I didn't know of this usage difference (since it's just "theatre" here for both). That sounds a bit like disc/disk here: the usual word "disc" but we tend to use "disk" in the context of computer storage. I'm not sure how standard that has become, though.
@dansup Theatre, enough with the US misspelling of words.
@dansup is this a poll to find out how many of your followers are in each English speaking country?
@dansup I like the result. 👀
