@evan thrilled to hear you on the podcast
@evan back when the first episode aired, I thought, “they should really talk to Evan.” So I was pleased to know they had been talking to you all along.
@evan @grigs The interviews were not related to their idea to launch the #forkiverse fwiw, (which I wouldn't have advised they launch the way they did).
But too bad they didn't publish the interviews we did, I bet they would have been interesting materials
@cwebber @evan yeah, something felt off about their entire #forkiverse experiment and then they drew larger conclusions about the fediverse that didn’t seem supported by their experiment.
@grigs @cwebber I think it simply came down to what kind of show they wanted to have. They ended up having a lighthearted story about creating a social network that matched their nostalgia for an earlier era of the Internet.
While I think that was fun, I don't think it ended up addressing some important issues, like: what could a social network do for their shows, Search Engine and Hard Fork? What would success look like? How could they get there?
@grigs ha, thanks! Not exactly my favourite kind of discussion, but the Search Engine folks are wonderful.
